What to Expect on Your First Orthodontic Visit

What to expect with braces at SmileMaker Orthodontics

We know that you will have a lot of questions about your orthodontic care such as:

How long will I have to wear braces? WIll it hurt? What can I eat?

When you arrive at our office you will be greeted by our guest relations coordinator, Sarah, who lives in East Nashville. Her primary job is making sure you are comfortable and have a great visit while you are here at our office. You’ll notice quickly that smiles are all around as we strive to make your experience a memorable one.

Next, you’ll meet your orthodontic treatment coordinator, Stephanie. She lives in Gallatin, TN and loves helping people get a beautiful new smile. An assistant will take some digital photos and x-rays and begin to talk with you about braces. Stephanie is an expert when it comes to helping patients as they go thru the process of getting braces.

At this point you’ll get to meet Dr. Burton. He truly cares about patients and he knows the effect that a great smile can have on your life or your child’s. While with Dr. Burton you will be thoroughly examined and everything will be explained to you so that you will understand if and why you need orthodontic braces treatment.
Each person’s Orthodontic Treatment plan is catered specifically to meet their needs.
And most patients will spend anywhere from 18-24 months wearing the corrective treatment appliance that will give them the best results. However, some minor cases can be finished in 3-6 months of wearing braces, with more complicated cases the corrective treatments may be 30 months. In general a patient will have an Orthodontic Treatment Plan that lasts from 6 months to 30 months. If this is going to be your second treatment time getting braces, then it is possible that your treatment time would be around the 6-9 month mark.
It is great if you have orthodontic insurance. For your convenience we will also review your insurance policy and help to maximize your benefit. As a courtesy to you, we try to make it as easy as possible for you and file your claims for braces treatment. Click here to find out more about insurance.
